Variety of holiday shopping options available at Indianapolis International

Last-minute gift-seekers can board their planes with that special present

INDIANAPOLIS—In the hectic days of the holiday season, it’s not always possible to complete your shopping before boarding a plane to spend time with family and friends. Fortunately, Indianapolis International Airport provides a wealth of gift options.

“Many times when people are rushing to catch a plane during the holiday season, or when they arrive here in Indianapolis, they realize they forgot to get a gift for somebody at their destination,” said Mary Ann Falatic, retail director. “Just when that feeling of panic sets in, they realize that the airport offers some welcome relief.”

The airport’s retail operations include a variety of fast-food and upscale dining/bar establishments, a day spa, 24-hour flower vending service and over 15 retail gift stores that offer unique Indiana gifts as well as items that have a broader appeal.

“One of the nice things about shopping at the airport is travelers can take a piece of Indiana with them as a gift or select an item that could be purchased in any major shopping mall in America,” Falatic said.

Retail shops at the airport that are tied to Indiana include Back Home Indiana and Brickyard Authentics, while Indiana-based Hatworld, along with national operations PGA Tour Store, Sunglass Hut, Godiva, and Brookstone offer a national presence.

“If you’re at the airport this holiday season and you suddenly realize you forgot to buy a gift for someone, we have you covered,” said Falatic.

Falatic reminds travelers that wrapped gifts should not be taken through the security checkpoints because, in most cases, the security screeners will remove the wrapping during the inspection process.
