TSA active shooter training video to be filmed at IND this week

Production should have minimal effect to travelers

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Airport Authority and the Transportation Security Administration would like to inform travelers of temporary changes this week.

Between Sept. 22-28, filming of a TSA active shooter training video will occur in locations throughout the Indianapolis International Airport (IND). During filming, these areas will be cordoned off and controlled, and should pose little to no impact to travelers.

TSA and airport employees will also be posted at areas of high foot traffic to inform incoming and outgoing passengers of the filming. Signage will also be posted throughout the public areas.

Supporting TSA in the production of the training video will also provide direct benefits to IND, including a unique opportunity for IND emergency responders to participate in effective training scenarios.

The training video being produced will be used to train TSA personnel and other airport stakeholders nationwide on how to respond and react to an active shooter incident.

TSA’s intent is to create the most realistic and engaging training video possible on the subject. Indianapolis International Airport was chosen as the location due to the strong partnership between TSA and the airport, as well as the airport’s modern design and ample space.
