Southwest Airlines® announces new, convenient nonstop service to Chicago

IND now offering 41 nonstop flights out of Indianapolis with latest addition

INDIANAPOLIS— Business and leisure travelers will soon have a new nonstop flight option to Chicago out of Indianapolis International Airport (IND). The Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) is pleased to announce today that Southwest Airlines® is adding nonstop service between Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) and IND. Flights can be purchased beginning today; the twice-daily service will begin January 6, 2016.

Nonstop service to Chicago builds upon Southwest and IND’s commitment to enhancing travel options for the Indiana business community. In the past several months, Southwest has announced new nonstop service to destinations including Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas and New York. With these additional services, Southwest is IND’s leading airline for departures and seat capacity.

The latest announcement gives passengers a total of 41 nonstop flights from Indy’s airport.

“This is great news for travelers looking for a convenient option to get to Chicago, one of the area’s top business and leisure destinations,” said IAA executive director Mario Rodriguez. “We’re committed to responding to our community’s business needs by continuously working with our airline partners to offer more nonstop flights to more key cities. We are excited to see our work paying off with this latest announcement.”

Southwest launched new nonstop service to Boston earlier this week and nonstop service to Los Angeles in early June. Nonstop service to Dallas also commenced in April. Southwest will begin offering nonstop service to New York City/LaGuardia November 1st.
