New Services for Military Members Traveling Through Indy Airport

Allegiant Honors Program Makes Travel Easier for U.S. Military, Veterans

INDIANAPOLIS (June 16, 2017) – Military members traveling through the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) can look forward to some new free travel services provided through Allegiant Airlines. Activity duty military and their dependents, as well as veterans and National Guard and reserve members, are eligible for the new services, effectively immediately.

“All of us at Allegiant take great pride in supporting the brave men and women who serve our country every day,” said Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant chairman and chief executive officer. “The Allegiant Honors program extends our thanks by making it a little easier for active members of the military, veterans and their families to travel. We are honored to have them fly with us.”

The select free services will include up to three pieces of checked baggage, one carry-on bag, one pet in cabin, courtesy boarding pass printing at the airport and free seat assignments upon availability.

“This new program is right in line with what we look for in our airline partners,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “It not only honors our brave men and women who do and have served our nation, it also exemplifies the hospitality and customer service the Indianapolis airport culture is all about. Allegiant’s new program has added to the public value this airport strives to provide to the community – and we applaud them.”

The airport recently hosted the Rolling Thunder Indiana Chapter Chair of Honor dedication for POW/MIA veterans in May. The Indy airport also served as the official Hoosier send-off site for more than 75 motorcyclists who road to Washington D.C. to join thousands of other veterans and motorcyclists. The event culminates on Washington D.C. each year to serve as voice for those who have yet to return home from a war on foreign soil.

The Indy airport’s USO Center, located in baggage claim, also provides services and amenities daily for service men and women flying through Indianapolis.
