Hawker Beechcraft Services to make $14 million airport investment

Growth includes state-of-the-art maintenance center, up to 50 new jobs

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indianapolis Airport Authority Board of Directors approved a $14-million, 32-year lease renewal for Hawker Beechcraft Services (HBS) today.

Indianapolis is the first of seven U.S. locations being targeted for growth by the company. The move will pave the way for construction of new HBS facilities near its current Pierson Drive location to include a 6,500 sq. ft. terminal and a 40,000 sq. ft. service hangar with 20,000 sq. ft. of back shops and administrative offices. The hangar will serve as a factory service center for the company’s next-generation Hawker 4000 aircraft, scheduled to enter the market later this year.

Headquartered in Wichita, Hawker Beechcraft Corporation has leased space in Indianapolis for 37 years and has 73 full-time employees. It expects to add an additional 40–50 jobs over three to five years in its service and avionics departments once the development is complete.

“Hawker Beechcraft is a significant business partner at Indianapolis International. We’re pleased to have been selected for this new development, which will greatly improve the customer experience for corporate and other general aviation users,” said Robert Duncan, airport director.

With 10 service centers located across the U.S., Mexico, and the U.K, HBS’ network of factory-owned service centers provides award-winning professional aircraft maintenance and repair with ready access to its knowledge base of factory expertise and engineering data.

“We are pleased to announce our Indianapolis location as leading the initiative to grow our capabilities and services worldwide,” said Bill Brown, president of global customer service and support at Hawker Beechcraft Corporation. “As our current facility demonstrates, Hawker Beechcraft Service centers are a direct link to our customers where we provide superior service and support. This growth plan further enhances that commitment.”
