Greater Indianapolis Foreign Trade Zone appoints new board members
INDIANAPOLIS—With terms of service that began earlier this year, three new members have been appointed to the Greater Indianapolis Foreign Trade Zone board of directors.
AL BENNETT is president of Bennett Associates, a criminal justice consulting firm specializing in quality assurance operations of jails and prisons. His knowledge of correctional systems assists both governmental agencies and private firms with the design, construction, and operation of correctional facilities. He has consulted in the Republic of South Africa, eastern and western Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Canada. He serves as an auditor and consultant for the American Correctional Association. Bennett is a graduate of Anderson University (BA) and Indiana State University (MA). He serves on a number of central Indiana civic and corporate boards.
Indianapolis native DANIEL BRACKEMYRE is manager of business development for Circle City Group, an LLC serving Boone REMC, Central Indiana Power, Hendricks Power, and South Central Indiana REMC. Now in his 25th year in the utilities industry, Brackemyre has held positions with Indianapolis Power & Light, the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, and Hoosier Energy. He has extensive knowledge of demand side management for residential, commercial, and industrial customers as well as economic development for municipalities. He has a BS from the University of Indianapolis and has served as a member of more than a dozen civic and educational boards and commissions, including the Indianapolis Economic Development Corp., Zionsville Redevelopment Commission, and the Hamilton County Alliance.
ANDREW REINKE is president of Foreign Targets, Inc., an export management company creating and managing proactive export programs for small and medium manufacturing firms. Reinke specializes in export management, identifying and penetrating foreign markets, market research and reconnaissance, competitor identification and tracking, coordinating export documentation, and NAFTA certification. Reinke has an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a BA from Wabash College. Past president of the World Trade Club of Indiana and the Michiana World Trade Club and former board member of the World Trade Club of Indiana and the Michiana World Trade Club, he currently serves on the board of the Indiana District Export Council.
An Indianapolis Economic Development, Inc. staff member, MICHAEL YOUNG oversees IED’s ‘‘cleantech’’ industry sectors for alternative energy development. He previously had responsibility for IED’s logistics, motorsports, and aerospace sectors. Prior to joining IEDI, Young worked for the State of Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development in leadership roles managing information technology and education. He also worked in finance roles at two Fortune 500 companies. Young has an undergraduate degree in finance from Butler University and an MBA from Duke University.
The four replace outgoing INzone board members Kelly Flynn, Linda Journey, Cherry Malachi, and Spencer Valentine, whose terms expired Dec. 31, 2009.
The Greater Indianapolis Foreign Trade Zone (or INzone) was established in 1981. Oversight is performed by an 11-member board selected by the FTZ grantee, the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA).
INzone is central Indiana’s only foreign trade zone, serving as an international economic incentive program to enhance foreign trade. Products entering INzone are not subject to U.S. Customs duties until released for use in the U.S. If goods come into INzone and are exported again, they are not subject to U.S. Customs duties.
