Frontier giving visitors to IND a chance to “swim and fly” this Sunday

Public invited to try and win travel vouchers as Frontier celebrates new service to Orlando

INDIANAPOLIS – Want to win a flight on Frontier Airlines? It’s as easy as taking a dip in the pool! In celebration of Frontier’s new nonstop service to Orlando, the low-cost airline will hold a special celebration Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Civic Plaza at the Indianapolis International Airport (IND). Immediately following a brief presentation, visitors to the airport can take turns hopping into a swimming pool full of colored balls, not water. If they can find a specially-marked ball before time is up, they win a travel voucher from Frontier.

The celebration will launch Frontier’s new daily nonstop service to Orlando, which was announced in July. Beginning Sunday, flights will leave IND daily at 3:45 p.m. and arrive in

Orlando at 6:05 p.m. Returning flights will depart Orlando at 2:45 p.m. and arrive in Indianapolis at 5:05 p.m. (*all times local).

Frontier will also unveil a gift of travel to a deserving Indianapolis mother during the celebration. It will present four Frontier travel vouchers to a foster parent. Charlene Taylor won a Faith, Hope & Love Award, earlier this year, from the Kiwanis Club of Indianapolis for her dedication to parenting foster children who are overcoming significant challenges. The full-time working mother, who is also completing her MBA, will join the celebration at IND, with two of her children, to receive her vouchers for a future flight. “A free flight means that I can take my children on a vacation to experience life in other places,” said Charlene, “And, my children have decided... we are going to Disney World!”

Frontier’s new nonstop flight to Florida is a gift to all travelers out of IND. “We are pleased to join with Frontier in launching this new travel option to Orlando,” said IAA executive director Mario Rodriguez. “Florida is consistently a top destination for Hoosier travelers and any time we can offer an additional, convenient way to get there, it’s a plus for everyone.”

Frontier began operating at IND in May, 2002, with its first flight to Denver International Airport (DEN). Earlier this year, the airline began offering a nonstop daily flight to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) with same-plane direct service from ATL to Miami International Airport (MIA) and Saturday service from IND to Cancun Airport (CUN) in Mexico. Frontier will also launch seasonal flights to Ft. Myers, Florida, in January.

"The launch of this new service marks an exciting day for both Indianapolis and Frontier," said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president - commercial for Frontier Airlines. "For Indianapolis, it means more low fares to more destinations, and for Frontier, it's a growth opportunity because of the response from the local community.”
