For the fifth time, J.D. Power ranks Indy Airport the best

IND takes top spots among airports its size

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 21, 2022) – The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) has once again earned the top spot from J.D. Power for customer satisfaction among medium-sized airports in North America. This is the third time in four years that the Indy airport has landed this prestigious recognition in the J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Survey, and the fifth time overall.

“We hear it from travelers all the time; IND is their favorite airport – and there is a lot of care and effort from so many people that goes into delivering that kind of consistently superior customer service,” said Mario Rodriguez, Indianapolis Airport Authority executive director. “We can’t help but be proud of our frontline employees and partners who strive each day to create that experience.”

The J.D. Power 2022 North America Airport Satisfaction Study is considered a prestigious benchmark for measuring customer satisfaction based on feedback. The survey looks at six factors associated with airport customer experience, including airport arrival/departure (getting to and leaving the airport), check-in/baggage check, security check, terminal facilities (concourses, lounges, signage, restrooms and gate areas) and baggage claim.

The Indy airport received an overall customer satisfaction score of 842 out of 1,000, which is the highest in the medium-sized airport category.

Travelers throughout the year give the Indy airport top marks in various award recognition programs, including the very prestigious industry title of Best Airport in North America from the Airports Council International – North America. The Indy airport has held this title for 10 years running.

“We strive for the Indy airport to be the epitome of Hoosier Hospitality, and that makes a profound impact on the overall traveler experience to our community,” said Rodriguez.

Travelers’ repeatedly praise how well the Indy airport delivers on cleanliness, easy access to gates, efficient security check, variety of food and beverage and retail options, overall facility amenities and customer service.

"We’ve weathered through so much over the past two years, and yet our employees and partners kept their focus on doing what it takes to be the very best," said IAA Board President Barbara Glass. "That speaks volumes to the diligence and sincerity of the people who work here and deliver theirbest day after day, and year over year.”
