Allegiant Adds Three New Nonstop Routes Out of Indy Airport

Indy travelers soon to have nonstops again to LAX, BOS and a new RAP flight

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 9, 2021) — Travelers looking for nonstop flights out of the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) to Los Angeles and Boston can now turn to Allegiant Air for new travel options. Starting in May, Allegiant will begin nonstop service to the two iconic cities – and offer August-only nonstop service to Rapid City, South Dakota.

“Los Angeles is a top market for travelers out of Indy, and Boston has always been an important business and leisure destination for IND,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “But routes to both LA and Boston have been affected by the pandemic, and thanks to Allegiant, Hoosiers have nonstop access to these destinations again.”

Both nonstop flights to Boston and Los Angeles takeoff May 28 and will operate on Fridays and Mondays. The inaugural nonstop flight from Indy to Rapid City will start August 4 and run through August 14 on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The flight to Rapid City in August is a completely new nonstop flight, a previously unserved market out of Indy, and reflects Allegiant’s read on passenger trends and its ability to be nimble in adjusting to peak travel times, Marsha Stone, IAA Sr. Director of Commercial Enterprise said.

“They’re clearly watching market trends and traveler interests, and leveraging their expertise in leisure travel,” Stone said. “And that expertise is a benefit to Hoosiers as leisure travel continues to be in demand.”

Rodriguez says the operations base Allegiant established at the Indy airport in 2018 has been advantageous, allowing the airline to be more agile during pandemic recovery with their route schedule and flight frequency.

Currently, Allegiant flies nonstop from Indianapolis to 15 destinations, including Austin (Texas), Charleston and Myrtle Beach (South Carolina), Las Vegas, New Orleans, Savannah and Tucson -- and the Florida cities of Destin/Ft. Walton Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Orlando/Sanford, Punta Gorda, Sarasota/Bradenton, St. Petersburg and West Palm Beach.
