Tuskegee Airmen: America's Freedom Flyers Exhibition

Category: Temporary

The Tuskegee Airmen exhibition explores the history and achievements of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first group of African American aviators trained by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Based at Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama, these pilots, navigators, and support personnel played a vital role in combat operations and set new standards of skill, discipline, and professionalism in military aviation. Their service contributed to the success of Allied missions overseas and represents an important chapter in the evolution of the U.S. armed forces.

Presented as a terminal-wide installation, the exhibition extends throughout the terminal, with featured pieces located in Baggage Claim, the Ticketing Hall, and Concourses A and B. Alongside a hometown heroes mural in Civic Plaza. Through historical photographs and interpretive content placed along the passenger journey, travelers are invited to engage with this remarkable story of aviation history from arrival to departure.
