Time Lapsed
Time Lapsed compiles as-it-happened footage of activity at Indianapolis International Airport over a three-month period in early spring, 2013, into a multi-dimensional portrait of how and where people move through time and space. Lee states, “I travel extensively to create or exhibit work about climate change or post-colonialism. I often do short time lapses in these places, so it was very interesting to spend three months creating videos in one place filled with other travelers.”

About the Artist: As a photographer and filmmaker, Flounder Lee is interested in the intersections between public and private, art and life, history and the present. He uses his lens and GPS technology to “map” both the land and human experiences, and often investigates themes of borders, environmentalism and the post-colonial world. Lee grew up on a farm in Alabama and received a full scholarship to study aerospace engineering at the University of Alabama. After his first year he switched to photography and moved to Florida, receiving his BFA in photography from the University of Florida in 2003 and his MFA in Studio Art from Cal State Long Beach in 2007. He taught photography at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis from 2007 to 2013, and currently he lives just outside Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he is a Senior Lecturer of Communication, Media, and Broadcasting at Limkokwing University.
