Pompeii: What Remains

Pompeii: What Remains

Category: Temporary

John Puffer presents his photographs of the ancient, ruined city of Pompeii taken over a span of twenty years. In Pompeii: What Remains, Puffer’s interest is in the life of the ordinary people who lived there. Wall paintings decorating the domestic spaces, the way light streams into rooms at a certain time of day, and a niche that used to house statues of household gods speak to him of a time and place that is long ago in time and place, yet so familiar to our own experience. This exhibition is located in the Concourse B exhibition case.
