This year marks the 25th anniversary since September 11, 2001. The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is collecting personal reflections from our community about what life looked like on September 12, 2001 and in the days after.

We invite you to include a written reflection, photo, or video here.

Stories may be shared with the public and preserved for future generations online and in print.

Come from Away at the Indiana Repertory Theatre

IND is proud to support the regional premiere of Come From Away on the OneAmerica stage at the Indiana Repertory Theatre from April 7 - May 10, 2026. The hit musical follows 7,000 passengers suddenly stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, after the events of September 11, 2001. In a moment when fear and suspicion could have taken over, a small town chose another road. Neighbors opened their homes, shared what little they had, fed strangers, comforted, and made room—proving that compassion isn’t naïve; it’s powerful.

Following the 2 PM performance of Come From Away

Centered on the events after September 11, 2001, this discussion will explore themes of the play and how airports—and the aviation industry as a whole—were forever changed, and how IND and other airports responded with resilience, care, and an enduring commitment to passengers and community.

The conversation will feature Mario Rodriguez, Executive Director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority; Keith Berlen, Senior Director of Airport Operations and Public Safety for the Indianapolis Airport Authority; and Megan Carrico (Moderator), Senior Director of Public Affairs for the Indianapolis Airport Authority and IRT Board Member.

Note: Must have a ticket to the April 19 performance to attend this community conversation.
