Community Engagement

This is the community's airport! Whether you're getting on an airplane or picking up loved ones, we're here to serve you. The airport is host to many free events to engage the community from monthly First Fridays music and entertainment to holiday celebrations with Santa practicing his route each year.

The Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) is dedicated to enhancing the community through thoughtful airport programming, supporting local events, and encouraging students to explore STEM and aviation-related careers.

St. Vincent Flyaway 5K

For two years, IND has hosted the St. Vincent Flyaway 5K. This event is one of a kind with a family-friendly 5K walk/run on the grounds of the Indianapolis International Airport. Participants run/walk alongside a runway with planes taking off and landing during the race.

Soaring for Autism

We know that traveling can be difficult for some children and adults with autism. We also know that preparation is the key to helping make the travel experience easier. Participants with autism and their companion (parents, caregivers, friends, siblings) can experience the steps most people take when coming to the airport.
