Drone Safety

Drones or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) can cause safety concerns in an airport environment. The Federal Aviation Administration requires individuals that operate a drone to register their unmanned aircraft. Airport operations must be notified if flying within five miles of an airport.

Flying Near An Airport

Drone operators interested in flying within 5 miles of any IAA general aviation airports, including the Indianapolis International Airport, must fill out a UAS activity form.

If flying within five miles of IND, drone operators must also contact local Air Traffic Control at 317-227-5843.
